Dining on Harbour Island

Good Things to Eat, Places to See, Bread to Share

It might just be that there is more good food per square inch in Harbour Island than just about any place under the sun. Pink Sands, the Beach Bar for lunch, The Terrace restaurant at Coral Sands for dinner, The Landing, Rock House, Sip-Sip, Valentine’s for a drink or dinner or both, the choices are almost endless. Speaking of breaking bread, don’t miss Arthur’s Bakery and for a heads up on everything that’s going on the island and what celebrities were tooling around in bikinis and golf carts yesterday or whose house has just gone on the market (don’t look for any rock bottom deals), just ask Robert Arthur, baker, entrepreneur, real estate guru and all-round host. For the more casual, there’s Vic Hum Club for those who want to dribble a basketball and hope they don’t do the same with their rum, or Gutsy’s for those who identify with the name and have just as much fun on a dirt floor so long as it is on the second floor. Out on the far end of Harbour Island is the Harbour Island Marina and the outdoor bar and restaurant are laid-back, lively and mighty hard to say good-bye to. Should you get restless, you can always roam around the haunted house next door to work up a thirst or an appetite for the next burger. Down by the dock where the ferry awaits, Miss Percentie’s conch stand is the real thing.  – Crossings Magazine
